WhyIslam DC Raises Funds for DC Bus Ad Campaign

wi_fundraiserOn Saturday April 18th, Why Islam DC, a project of ICNA,  held their 2009 annual fundraiser. Invited speakers were Sohaib Sultan, Muslim chaplain at Princeton University and author of The Quran for Dummies, and Imam Jawad Ahmed, teacher of al-Ghazali school in Teaneck, NJ. Imam Mohammed Magid, Director of ADAMS Center also spoke few words on this occasion.

The event was held in St Joseph’s Parish in Herndon, VA and was well-attended primarily by the Northern Virgina Muslim community.

The purpose of the fundraiser was to support upcoming WhyIslam DC dawah campaign which includes much-anticipated bus Dawah ads which will enjoy public high-exposure in the DC-Metro area and new billboard insha’Allah.

Contract has been signed with CBS outdoors to have   “WhyIslam” posters on 50 buses for 4 weeks. These posters will include basic message of Islam and invitation to viewers to call dawah hot line 1-877-WHYISLAM.

The community generously supported the effort and a total of $35 K in cash and pledges was raised.
