During the summer time, WhyIslam DC participate in several local and county fairs and provide information about Islam. This workshop helps WhyIslam volunteers to learn effective way of providing information about Islam, how to answer common questions and how to avoid common pitfalls. This day long program will start at 10:30 in the morning and finish around 4:00 in the afternoon. The workshop will be held in Al Fatih Academy, 12300 Pinecrest Road, Reston, Virginia 20191 . Click here for direction. Registration is $10 per person which includes lunch. New and gently used coats will be collected, cleaned and distributed locally among the needy. Drop off dates are November 25-27, 2011 and December 2-4, 2011. Coats will be cleaned and distributed on December 16-18, 2011. You can also donate cash for the this noble cause. Your help will enable us to provide warmth to hundreds of needy in cold weather. To cover the cost of cleaning of these cost we also need some cash donations. Please click here to donate online. ICNA Council for Social Justice, a social justice advocacy organization is holding its Annual Banquet and Fundraiser on December 17, 2011. Well known British journalist, sister in-law of former British prime minister Tony Blair, and a revert Muslimah, Sr. Lauren Booth will be the key note speaker. Congressman Andre Carson also has been invited. Other Speakers include Imam Khalid Griggs, Chairman ICNA Council for Social Justice, Dr. Zahid Bukhari, national president of ICNA. New this year will be pre- event workshops on public advocacy and social justice. This event will be held in Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge, 1900 N Fort Myer Drive, Arlington, VA 22209. Thousands of people enjoyed the day through very pleasant weather, with good food and most importantly, the company of Muslim families from all over the greater Washington DC metro and neighboring areas.

Within a few hours of the program ending, we received several messages like :

“May Allah bless the organizers of Muslim Family Day! Well done!”

“Alhumdulillah, it was a great day today at Six Flags! JazakAllah khayran for All of the Hard Work, Time, Energy, and Efforts you all put into all of the planning of Muslim Family Day”

The act of giving to the needy and being a good neighbor is integral to the Islamic faith; through the Giveaway Project, ICNA Relief hopes to both help struggling families provide for their children and inspire the American Muslim community to partake in this fundamental teaching of Islam.
